Plantations

Long cycle perennial crop estates.

A plantation sells a crop it took years to establish, into a trade that prices it in minutes. Tea goes under the hammer, latex moves on a published rate, coffee and pepper are judged on a sample and a lab report. The buyers behind all four now ask an engine about origin, processing and grade long before they ask you. Where you are quoted, the enquiry arrives qualified.

Where the answer is being lost

The estate that grew it is the voice missing from the answer.

A procurement head at a tea brand types “What makes second flush Darjeeling different” before opening a private sale conversation, and receives a fluent paragraph on muscatel, elevation and plucking standard, assembled from retailers and reference sites. No garden is named. The same holds when a roaster reads about processing method, or an importer's technical lead checks a residue rule. The people who grew the crop, tapped the tree and ran the withering trough hold the only first-hand account of it, and none of that account is retrievable. So the lot is priced against a description someone else wrote.

How we win this

The programme for plantations

01

Name the lot, not the region

Darjeeling, Chikmagalur and Idukki are already well described. Your garden, block and invoice are not. We publish at the level a buyer actually purchases: elevation band, varietal, flush or grade, factory, lot number. Schema then binds those attributes to the estate as one identifiable entity, so a claim about processing belongs to a farm rather than dissolving into an origin.

02

Publish what the lab says

Adjectives are free and buyers discount them accordingly. Your own records are not. Moisture at bagging, screen size, residue testing frequency, cupping notes, tapping yield by age of tree. We turn what you already measure into maintained data-assets, dated and sourced, because a figure a cautious buyer can check outranks any description of quality.

03

The processing floor on video

In every one of these crops, the difference between a premium price and a commodity price is made after harvest. Withering and firing, fermentation and drying beds, steam sterilisation, sheet smoking. Filmed with the person who makes those decisions explaining them, then transcribed in full, that becomes a source an engine can read and attribute to your estate.

04

Where the trade does not read

An auction hammer and a published latex rate are not persuadable. We say so rather than sell around it. What remains is real: private sale and direct trade, prequalification by an importer's technical team, and the standing that gets an estate or an association consulted. A diagnostic shows which of those answers you currently lose.

The mix that carries it

Content

Answer and comparison pages

Cost, process, eligibility and comparison pages built for direct extraction, not for a reader who scrolls.

Authority

Original data and benchmarks

Proprietary numbers, surveys and benchmarks — the most-cited asset class there is, because nobody else has them.

Content

GEO blogs and authority content

The definitive written answer to the questions your buyers put to an engine, structured so it can be lifted and attributed.

Foundation

Entity and schema engineering

Structured data and entity definition so engines know exactly what you are, where you operate, and what you are credible in.

Content

Video and YouTube

Video run as a primary AI source, for the dense, entity-rich transcripts models read and quote.

Authority

Digital public outreach

Earned mentions, trade coverage and third-party citations — the corroboration a model checks before it names you.

The constraint we work inside

Two ceilings are real here. Residue limits, grade standards and export documentation change, so anything we publish on them carries its source and a review date, and compliance is never phrased as a promise. And an auction hammer answers to neither of us.

Specialisations

4 total

The pitch is different for each one, because the buyer, the trigger and the rules on what may be published are different for each one. Open the one that is yours.

A brand's procurement head is building a direct buying list between auction cycles, and the gardens that reach his shortlist are the ones an engine can describe by name.

The question deciding this today

What makes second flush Darjeeling different

Who they sell to
Buyers of processed tea leaf, from auction to brand
Who signs
Estate manager, or the buyer's procurement head
What starts it
Auction cycle, quality issue, labour cost, climate impact on flush
Cost of staying invisible
Prices set at auction for quality nobody communicated

Ask an engine “What makes second flush Darjeeling different” and the reply is confident: muscatel, June, high elevation, second growth. It is assembled from tea retailers in London and Tokyo, a few reference pages, and the copy of brands who buy the leaf rather than grow it. The gardens appear as a list of names, if at all, with no elevation, no plucking standard, no manufacture detail. The retailer selling your leaf owns the public description of your leaf.

What we would run

  1. 01GEO blogs and authority content

A flush-by-flush record under the garden's own name: first, second, monsoon and autumn, each with plucking standard, manufacture route and the cup character it produced this season.

A blender or specialty retailer comparing gardens ahead of a private sale reads exactly this, and there is nothing estate-written for an engine to quote today.

  2. 02Answer and comparison pages

Pages on buying direct from the garden: minimum lot, grades offered, sample despatch, invoice terms, and what the garden mark on a chest actually certifies.

These arrive as full questions rather than keywords, from buyers who want to step around the auction catalogue and deal with the garden itself.

  3. 03Entity and schema engineering

A structured entity definition for the garden covering district, elevation band, factory type, grades produced, certifications held and the flush calendar, all resolving to one machine-readable estate.

An engine credits a claim only to a producer it can identify. Without that, your muscatel is generic Darjeeling and belongs to nobody.

  4. 04Video and YouTube

Filmed walkthroughs of withering, rolling, oxidation and firing, with your factory manager explaining the decision taken at each stage and why, published with full transcripts.

Manufacture is a chain of judgements: when to stop the wither, how hard to fire, when to sort. Spoken through by the person who takes those decisions and written out in full, that reasoning becomes the one account of your tea an engine can attribute to the garden itself.

What we would not recommend

  • Reviews and testimonials. Reviews of your leaf already exist and they sit under the brand that packed it. Gathering more of them builds a retailer's reputation, and the garden's name stays off every one.
  • Instagram. A flush runs a fortnight and the factory works through the night for it. We are not going to ask a garden to feed an app in that window for an audience that cannot buy an invoice.
  • Reddit. Tea communities there are hobbyist and consumer-side. They will not produce a private sale conversation with a brand or an importer.

What a lead looks like

An importer's buying manager who has read your second flush notes and your grades page emails naming the garden mark, asking whether a private sale of a specific invoice is possible this season and how samples are despatched. He knows your elevation before the first call.

What we measure

  • Garden named in origin answers
  • Garden mark resolves as an entity
  • Direct sale enquiries per season
  • Flush pages live before each flush
  • Share of answer against named gardens

What changes

A specialty roaster writes after reading your washed and natural comparison, asking for a sample of a named lot and the harvest window. An importer's quality lead arrives with your testing schedule already read and wants the certificates for a specific grade. A direct-trade retailer asks what a private sale of second flush would cost. Every one of them starts at sample stage rather than introduction stage, holding your elevation, your grade or your testing schedule before the first call. The call now begins where it used to end.
