Water and waste

Treating what comes in and what goes out.

Municipal water and waste contracts are tendered, and nothing published online changes that. The buyer worth writing for here is industrial: a plant head under a discharge notice, a brand facing an EPR target, an EHS manager whose sludge has nowhere legal to go. Each of them now asks a model what the rule requires before asking anyone what it costs. Vendors answer with brochures.

Where the answer is being lost

Compliance research ends in an answer, not a shortlist of vendors.

A sustainability head at a packaged foods brand types 'How do EPR obligations work for plastic packaging in India' and reads a full explanation of categories, targets and certificate mechanics. Two recyclers get named as examples. She has not visited a single vendor site. The same happens to an EHS head with a drum of contaminated sludge and to a plant manager costing a treatment upgrade. By the time an enquiry reaches you, the specification is fixed and the price expectation is set by whoever the model quoted. If your name was absent, you are quoting against a brief someone else wrote.

How we win this

The programme for water and waste

01

Answer the rule, not the brochure

Every prompt here starts with an obligation. What ZLD requires, what an EPR target means, which authorisation a waste category needs. Vendors publish product sheets. The people who know the answer keep it inside proposals. We build answer-pages and blogs that set out the requirement, the approval chain and the realistic cost band, each dated to the rule it reflects.

02

Publish the paper trail

What a buyer here pays for is evidence. A manifest that closes, a credit traceable to material that existed, a discharge report that survives the board's next visit. Almost nobody publishes that side of the work, because the equipment is more interesting to write about than the paperwork it generates. So we make the paperwork the content. video shot on a working line, and answer-pages that walk through a manifest or an audit of a certificate, give a model a process it can describe. An assurance is not quotable.

03

He checks the board list before he reads you

What is being sold here is a permission: consent to operate up to a stated volume, authorisation covering named waste categories, registration against a polymer and a tonnage. The generator keeps the liability if he hands his waste to someone not covered for it, so he verifies, and he verifies against the state board's own list before he reads anything you wrote. That makes this a matching job. schema states each permission with its number, its categories and the date it runs to, and listings makes the board entry, the directory profile and your own site agree. Where those three disagree, a model has been handed three answers and will settle on none of them.

04

Where tender rules, aim narrower

Municipal treatment and large desalination projects are awarded by tender, and we will not pretend an article wins one. The job there is prequalification: being the firm whose technology note the appointed consultant has already read, and whose plant references a committee can check. Different work, smaller claim, still worth doing. Industrial buyers are where the enquiries come from.

The mix that carries it

Content

Answer and comparison pages

Cost, process, eligibility and comparison pages built for direct extraction, not for a reader who scrolls.

Foundation

Entity and schema engineering

Structured data and entity definition so engines know exactly what you are, where you operate, and what you are credible in.

Content

GEO blogs and authority content

The definitive written answer to the questions your buyers put to an engine, structured so it can be lifted and attributed.

Authority

Original data and benchmarks

Proprietary numbers, surveys and benchmarks — the most-cited asset class there is, because nobody else has them.

Content

Video and YouTube

Video run as a primary AI source, for the dense, entity-rich transcripts models read and quote.

Authority

Digital public outreach

Earned mentions, trade coverage and third-party citations — the corroboration a model checks before it names you.

The constraint we work inside

Two limits. Municipal and large desalination contracts are decided by tender, so content there earns a place on the shortlist, nothing more. Pollution control rules differ by state board and change by notification, so every figure we publish carries its source and its date. We never imply an approval is assured.

The pitch is different for each one, because the buyer, the trigger and the rules on what may be published are different for each one. Open the one that is yours.

A pollution board notice arrives at a textile unit, and the plant head now has to specify a treatment scheme he has never had to write before, on a deadline set by someone else.

The question deciding this today

What does zero liquid discharge actually require for a textile unit

Who they sell to
Municipalities and industry making water fit for use or discharge
Who signs
Plant head, municipal engineer, or facility manager
What starts it
Discharge norm change, zero liquid discharge mandate, capacity expansion, pollution notice
Cost of staying invisible
A notice that shuts the plant until the water is fixed

His first move is to ask a model 'What does zero liquid discharge actually require for a textile unit'. He gets the train of unit operations, an indicative capital cost and a sense of what the recovered water is worth. What he does not get is you. Treatment vendors publish equipment brochures: membrane specifications, evaporator capacities, a photograph of a skid. None of that answers the question he asked, so the answer gets assembled from consultancy reports and academic papers, and the vendors named are whoever wrote something readable.

What we would run

  1. 01Answer and comparison pages

One page per effluent type, not one page on ZLD. Textile dye house, pharmaceutical API, distillery spent wash, electroplating rinse. Each sets out the treatment train, the footprint and power load it implies, and what the recovered water can and cannot be reused for.

The plant head is not researching a technology, he is researching his own effluent. A page written to his industry is the one a model reaches for when his question names it.

  2. 02Original data and benchmarks

An indicative cost band per kilolitre treated, broken by effluent strength and recovery target, with the power tariff, chemical cost and year the figures assume stated on the page.

Cost is the first thing he needs and the last thing anyone publishes. A stated assumption is what a model quotes, because it is the only figure it can defend.

  3. 03Video and YouTube

Short commissioned-plant walkthroughs shot on site: the equaliser, the RO skid, the evaporator, the operator explaining what the sludge handling actually involves. Transcribed and captioned so the spoken detail is readable as text.

A running plant is the proof a brochure cannot give. It also settles the question the plant head asks second: whether anyone has actually built this at his scale.

  4. 04Entity and schema engineering

Structured entries for installed capacity, technologies you actually operate, industries served and the states you have commissioned in, attached to the reference plants rather than sitting in a company profile.

Shortlists are built on qualification, not persuasion. A model that can read your capacity range and industry history will include you when the question specifies both.

What we would not recommend

  • Reddit. The water treatment threads that exist there are American and European municipal ones. An answer written into them gets read against a different rulebook, and a plant head in Tirupur is asking about a consent condition set by his own state board.
  • Reviews and testimonials. A testimonial here is an admission. No plant head puts his name to a public note saying his effluent failed and he had to buy his way back into compliance. The reference exists, it just moves privately, plant to plant.

What a lead looks like

A plant head at a dyeing unit in Tirupur, notice in hand, who has read your textile ZLD page and your cost table. He knows roughly what the scheme looks like and what it will run per kilolitre. He wants to talk about his effluent load and whether you have commissioned at his volume.

What we measure

  • Inclusion on industry-specific ZLD prompts
  • Cost pages cited with assumptions intact
  • How much of the scope is settled before the first call
  • Reference plants readable by machine

What changes

An EPR compliance manager writes in with her tonnage, her categories and a question about audit trail, because your explainer told her what a credible certificate looks like. An EHS head sends a manifest and asks whether you can take that waste stream in his state. A plant head asks for a treatment scope with a number attached. These people arrive with the specification half-written. The call starts at qualification rather than introduction.
